Personal Stories/Opinions
Last updated:
Hello Paddy,
I am writing this email on behalf of my mother, who lives in Australia. She is currently reading a book called Kathy's Story - about the abuse that children suffered in Ireland in the Magdalene Laundries. Despite my mother not being in care as a child, she still suffered abuse as a child from her family members. My mum is so touched by the stories on your website and in the book that she is reading that she has written a poem about abuse, namely sexual, for people on your website to read. Can you please put this on your site for her and others?
ABUSE
Atrocities bestowed upon souls enlightened,
Rage from within the wicked they ignited.
Those sweet innocent souls of truth,
Who dare to shine in a world so puke
Suffering the abuse from those who hate,
People whom, to kindness they can not relate.
Love to them is such a foreign thing
Of joy and peace they can not sing.
Rage and hate engulf their heart
And from their evil ways refuse to part
They search out souls, ever so pure
Who, with long suffering, do endure
Souls so great, yet humble and kind
Souls who possess a beautiful mind
With thoughts full of serene tranquillity
Demonstrating love with sensibility
For they ascribe to wisdom from above
Lovingly repaying the evil with good, a principle not easily understood.
But, pause, and reflect for a while
What has been gained by those who revile?
Only more hatred, fear and spite,
Only love can make things right
Love alone can remove the fear
And wipe away our every tear.
