VICTIMS’ groups last night criticised Pope Benedict for claiming that revelations of child abuse by the clergy were a “shock” to him.
His comments were “disingenuous” and “utter rubbish”, survivors said, particularly as the Pope was in charge of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith — which dealt with allegations of abuse — for 20 years before becoming pontiff.
“I’m very taken aback that the Pope is shocked at the level of abuse,” said Maeve Lewis of One in Four.
“He was managing those allegations for 20 years, so he was fully aware. I find his comments disingenuous.”
Christine Buckley of the Aislinn support group, which helps victims, described the Pope’s comments as nothing more than a public relations stunt.
“This is utter and absolute rubbish,” she said.
“The Pope was aware of paedophiles within his own church. As head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, he was well aware of what priests were doing.
“Is he a hypocrite? That’s too kind a word for him. This is a complete public relations exercise. It’s dreadful, absolutely dreadful.
“I just hope he doesn’t have a soft time in England and Scotland, but they wouldn’t have the hurt that we have.”

i saw this too . i thaught it was an abondoned site as the whole thing nasty as it is has a date of 2005.of course its a very nasty way of treating anybody . but a very good example of what the groups call helping survivers .
It’s strange that the name’s of the 5 victim’s of Child Abuse that the Pope was supposed to have talked to and prayed with, were never mentioned in the media. Just who exactly were they? And how were they selected? Or was it just another PR stunt?
Victims Surport Groups ,???that’s a laugh, Buckleys friend Tom hayes runs alliance surport has allowed a comment on his site slagging off a real survivor who I knew in GB in the 1950s first name G whoever wrote that cruel infliammatory stuff is as Evil as our abusers .especially as they don’t know the survivor but that is the leval of abuse real survivors get from so called group leaders and their friends chrissie west you have damaged our quest for real justice it’s always only about YOURSELF and people are sick of hearing about you, others have far worse things happen to them in GB than you.

Saw a programme earlier this week, about Family’s in the Phillipine’s, scraping a living from spending their day’s on landfill site’s, collecting plastic bottle’s and tin can’s, WHICH WHEN SOLD ON ,MIGHT ENABLE THEM TO SIT DOWN AND HAVE ONE SQUARE MEAL A DAY!
I never saw the Pope walk among these soul’s, kissing babie’s, and blessing them, yet these Folk are all Catholic’s and afraid to commit a sin, by using contraception, and end up with large family’s. Power of the R/C/Church, again in action!
Instead , The pope is on a big pr trip in the uk, kissing and blessing baby’s, and having supper with the bishop’s of england ,scotland and wale’s! But , no paddy bishop’s! Where were they, and why were they not invited? And why , after his trip to the uk, did he show no interest in visiting Ireland? Could it be because of the Shame of the Abuse his flock committed on Poor INNOCENT Children there? The mind boggle’s!

AND NOW EDUCATION FUND BY PASSING IT ONTO THE SO CALLED STATURARY FUND DICTATED TO US AFTER THIS GOVERNMENT WHO STOLE 500 MILLION PLUS EURO AWAY FROM THE RELIGIOUS CONTRIBUTION TOWARD US SURVIVORS.
AND THE MEDIA ARE GUILTY DIVERTING THE PEOPLE AWAY FROM THIS TRUTH BY PRINTING THIS STUPIS ARGUMENT.
IF THE GROUPS WERE DOING THEIR JOB THEY WOULD HAVE MADE SURE SURVIVORS WOULD BE USING THEIR SOLICITORS TO GET THEIR RIGHTS TO A BETTER COMPENSATION THAN THIS NEGLECTFUL ATTITUDE BY BOTH THE GOVERNMENT RELIGIOUS AND SO CALLED SURVIVOR GROUPS WHO ARE GUILTY OF DICTATING THEIR VIEWS OVER THAT OF THE SURVIVORS AND MAKING ILLEGAL DECISIONS ON OUR BEHALF.
IF YOU WANT TO DO ANYTHING RIGHT FOR A CHANGE FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF SURVIVORS ONCE AND FOR ALL IF YOU HAVE THE BALLS.
WE NEED PROPER DIRECTIONS WITH PROPER ATTENTION TO DETAILS OF SURVIVORS NEEDS TODAY.
THE POPE IS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY NOT CATHOLIC AND IS NOT HERE IN IRELAND I WONDER WHY?
COULD IT BE HE HAS NOT GOT THE FAITH ALSO TO LOOK SURVIVORS IN THE FACE AND SEE THE HURT HE HAS CAUSED EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM?
WILL HE REPAY THAT OTHER 50% THE GOVERNMENT TOOK FROM SURVIVORS?
THINK OF IT NOW WHAT IS 50% OF THE RELIGIOUS CONTRIBUTION IF THE GOVERNMENT TOOK 500 PLUS MILLION EURO AND LEFT US WITH A MEAN 100 MILLION FOR THOUSANDS OF SURVIVORS BY THIS DICTATORSHIP WE ARE ALL NOW UNDER?.

well of course it is He did not come all that way for survivers. he is in England to defend the church . its about women priests. and the anglicans who agree with him . if he cared about the abuse it would have been his prioritie.
