Survivors of child abuse in the Catholic Church have asked to meet investigators being sent to Ireland by Pope Benedict XVI to argue their case for better compensation.

Investigators have already met representatives of religious orders in Ireland ahead of a visit to the Vatican by the country’s four most senior bishops.

Pope Benedict’s decision to fine-comb the Irish church’s handling of child abuse follows last year’s Ryan Report on residential institutions and the Murphy Report on the Dublin archdiocese.

Among other things, Pope Benedict wants to establish what assistance the Church owes to victims.

The Right to Peace and Right of Place organisations have told a group of bishops in Ireland that they want to meet the investigators.

Tomorrow, and on Wednesday in the Vatican, a separate review of abuse in parishes will be prepared when Cardinal Sean Brady, and Archbishops Diarmuid Martin, Dermot Clifford and Michael Neary meet the four investigators assigned to their dioceses.

  1. Hello to everyone, Can I ask a question to all who may be able to answer. I learned two and a half years ago from typing up a complaint that my sister had been molested and raped when she was 11 years old. What had shocked me most was that she was trying to protect me as I was only seven years old. I now have to live with this for the rest of my life which is very hard to be very honest not to mention the intimidation by the Garda force for trying to fight against the system which allowed this to happen to my sister. I have been fighting her corner for a very long time now and have been a target of serious intimidation by what is now transpiring are pedophile rings but also by The Garda Force and there is some pile of the scumbags, they are every where, its nuts to be quite honest, I actually fear for the future of all our children. My question really is this, why are the police force getting away scot free? It’s just that I see a comment above and no disrespect to that person who wrote the comment “Best places to ‘meet’ those complicit in the criminal facilitation of child abuse and the criminal cover-up that followed is the Garda station and/or the Courts of Law.” But was it not the Garda Force that covered up the abuse? was it not the Garda Force that incarcerated the children in the first place? was it not the Garda force that ignored the pleas of the abuse victims from day one? Is it not the Garda Force who are complicit in the abuse crimes? So why are the Garda force getting away scot free? I and a number of others have had comments like they will knock you off, they will kill you, the people are simply scared it crazy. Is anyone aware that it is now the Garda force that follow victims around the country under the health and safety surveillance bill, yeah right, surveillance on the innocent victims who get called lunatics but never any surveillance on the pedo predators. Their new playing field is now to get the victim to admit they are traumatised in some way then get the victims drugged up and locked away, changing the playing field is all the pedo predators are doing and they have help from the top. Call it what it is, but that is what it is full stop. Nothing you probably haven’t heard already

  2. Up until now the Pope and many others have admitted they did not know how to handle the situation so they did nothing . Nothing has changed for most of us except being taken through the same kind of machine as when we were children. I mean the redress board . what do these guys know about what it is like to be a helpless victim.Do thay really care about them or is it just another way of saying we really are nice guys .

So who is it exactly that want to meet with these investigators? Are these investigators already in this country.? First I heard of it was yesterday morning October 4th It appears they have already met with religious representatives. Did they meet here or elsewhere? When did this meeting take place?

Any news on the statutory fund? How long are this government gonna mess us about?

The Vatican is sending a team of cover up merchants to investigate why the cover up in Ireland was not covered up better. During the course of their investigation they hope to make improvements to the Vatican’s manual on covering up child rape and torture to bring it into line with “best international practice”.

The State’s politicians will play their role by fawning at their feet, keeping their mouths shut demonstrating once again that old maxim:
“you can take the altar boy out of the Church but that doesn’t mean you’ve taken the Church out of the altar boy”.

In keeping with tradition the Inquisition will hold it’s sessions in secret.

A few dupes and pawns will be used for a photo op entering/leaving some church owned building so the PR line can read “investigators meet with survivors”.*

This is all part of a wider project preparing the way for 2012 when a new CEO will be arriving with all the traditional triumphalism.

Of course Ratzinger will have passed away peacefully by then in the Vatican.** The collective mindset will bury a sea of child rape along with him as if the problem of this Global Conglomerate could just go away with the death of one little German oul fella.

The Irish taxpayer, with the usual shrug of the shoulders and nary a whimper, will be bled for another few million to pay for the parade. The streets will be lined with flag waving crowds in full peasant mode and there will be so many crawthumpers around it will sound like the distant echo of a second world war artillery bombardment.

For once photographers will get actual shots of the State within a State which has operated in Ireland since the British left and the VCGG (Village Catholic Gombeen Gang) took over on behalf of the Catholic Church Limited not forgetting to line their own pockets in the process.

It’s just traditional Catholic Values in action!

So the inquisitors return to Eire in an attempt to use their deceptive intelligence techniques on the already abused souls, in the full knowledge of inflicting further abuse on them. Shame on them. They are not worthy to shake the hand of any of their victims and should be sent packing.

  7. It might be worth recalling that the visiting inquisition team are under the supervision of a pope who himself is manifestly part of the culture of abuse. Indeed, most unsavoury questions have been raised about some member of that team.

In this regard, then it would appear unwise to enter into negotiations or dialogue with such an inquisition team. However, it would be entirely appropriate to meet with them and make the position of survivors known to them in case there be any doubt or opportunity to plead ignorance as might be their stance.

Best places to ‘meet’ those complicit in the criminal facilitation of child abuse and the criminal cover-up that followed is the Garda station and/or the Courts of Law. Wonder who Right of Place consulted before announcing they wanted to meet people associated with the Vatican orchestrated global conspiracy to cover up CLERGY SEXUAL TERRORISM?
